Home Sweet Home

Hello to my amazing, lovely friends!

Welcome to the new website! You like? Bye-bye Blogger, hello WordPress!

I’ve missed writing quite a bit, but now that summer’s started again and Camp NaNoWriMo is just around the corner, I thought now would be a great time to start A Darling Disaster on a new foot with a new chapter in my life.

What’s this new chapter, you may ask?

Oh, only my position as an Executive Vice President forĀ Collegiate DECA!

The 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 Collegiate DECA Executive Officers.

Yes, you heard that right, lovelies. It’s been a while since I last wrote, but in that time I ran my second campaign for higher office within DECA, and this time I was incredibly blessed to be elected to a fantastic team of five young leaders (the five of us on the right in the image above) – and yes, I am the only girl.

What is a Collegiate DECA Executive Officer, you may ask? Well, what a good question! Executive Officers is the new term for National Officers. Since we are now an international organization, the name for the overall student leaders was changed to fit the students they govern.

I was also lucky enough to win Second Place in the world for my competitive event, Emerging Technologies Marketing Strategies, featuring the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, with my very patient partner Marcey – love you, girl!

The biggest plaque I’ve ever received.

In other, non-DECA news, it’s summer! Yes, I finished my freshman year just last week and have been relaxing for the first time in forever (hah – Frozen reference…) since. I’m taking this time to job-hunt, outline my chosen story for Camp NaNoWriMo, and prepare for training with my new team in Reston, where DECA headquarters is located, this June. And, of course, I’m continuing to sweat my butt off every weekend at Faire, ensuring that our position as #1 lane act in the country for the second year running continues into a third year, and that my waistline does not increase further.

My goals for this year and A Darling Disaster?

  • feature more awesome people in my life who deserve a little – okay, more than a little – recognition
  • share travel stories, tips and resources, since I’ll be traveling quite a bit in the next year or so
  • use ADD – an ever appropriate acronym, if you ask me – as a platform to empower people to live as many lives as they want to

I’m sure much more will come out of this, but those are my ultimate goals in sharing my stories on this oh-so-public platform.

After all, that’s what the internet is for, right? (:

Much love,
